Launched during the first lockdown of 2020, there was a lot of pent-up demand within our database of potential buyers, the majority of them being over 60s, relocating, downsizing or both.
Following the opening of our Show Home and easing of restrictions, buyers didn’t want to miss out the unique opportunity of being able to secure their dream home in their ideal location and the development went on to sell out off plan within twenty-two months.
As one of Somerset most desirable villages, Wedmore is very much a thriving community and the lifestyle available here has been an important factor: great amenities, including a range of shops, post office, dentist, doctor, etc are all within walking distance of Cross Farm.
The development is also located just a short drive off the M5, giving easy access to key town and cities in the region, such as Taunton, Street, Wells and Bristol.
Dave and Lynda discovered Cross Farm through an online search and first visited the development in June 2020. Although the Show House was closed, as they had reached Cross Farm, they used their time to explore the village and very much liked what they found.
We knew that we wanted to be in a place that was not too far from the motorway, as there would still be regular trips back to Lytham, and one that had a community, access to golf courses and real facilities, many of which should ideally be within walking distance, so we would not be so reliant on a car.
The location was ideal, the facilities in and near Wedmore were perfect for Dave and Lynda’s existing hobbies (as well as some possible new ones). Plus, the design, specification and quality of finish made Cross Farm a winning destination for them. Then can we talk about the high quality spec and design
Key to the design at Cross Farm was providing a visual link through the Borough Mall to the main High Street, allowing space for the mature oak tree standing centrally in Cross Farm and maximising views out over the Mendips, across orchards and agricultural fields.
Generous window openings and the quality of interior spaces created has made each property flexible and adaptable throughout its life, with generous openings to allow the flow of space from the inside out to embrace the rural settings.
Damien, another one of our buyers at Cross Farm, mentioned the design and specification as one of the key points that draw him to the development.
What attracted me immediately was the overall design of the scheme and appearance of the individual properties.
While it was clearly modern, a plus point for me, the detailing of the external design was fitting with the broader local architecture: the pitch of the roof, the stone detailing. It all added to creating something that was subtly distinct, but not out of place.
The internal design and specification were also a key point for me. Where the architects might have squeezed in extra rooms, they didn’t, leaving each room feeling spacious and bright. The good quality boiler, underfloor heating and heat exchanger all added up to a quality product.
